Job Description
Salary: $25.00 - $31.00/hr, based on experience and qualifications
The M. C. Miller Co., Inc. is looking for an experienced Corrosion Technician to join us in Sebastian, FL.
Full-Time on-site position.
40 Hours per week.
Hours are Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm.
Occasional overtime may be required.
Must be able to legally work in the U.S.A.
Summary
The Corrosion Technician works under limited direction/supervision and is responsible for supporting customers, testing new equipment and software, providing training on M. C. Miller products, and documenting new procedures and applications.
The Corrosion Technician is expected to apply principles and theories of corrosion, cathodic protection, electrochemistry, and corrosion inspection.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ Years Experience in either Cathodic Protection or Corrosion Inspection
- Experience reading rectifiers, anodes, shunts, foreign bonds, pipelines and casing test points
- Experience setting up and performing CIS/DCVG surveys
- Experience performing tests to identify shorts and continuity tests in CP systems
- Knowledge on the basics of electricity, electrical laws, electrochemistry, corrosion, and CP theory
- Knowledge on current flow, polarity, voltage and current measurements, soil resistivity, pipe/cable locating, and structure-to-soil potentials
- Familiarity with impressed current systems, galvanic anodes, and test stations
- Familiarity with basic location mapping, report preparation, and record keeping
- Ability to learn new test software and equipment and to identify abnormal conditions in equipment and product
- Strong ability with MS Office, particularly Excel
- Ability to work in multiple software systems
- Ability to communicate, listen to, and understand information and ideas presented in English either verbally or in writing
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ Experience in either Cathodic Protection or Corrosion Inspection
- NACE/AMPP CP 1 Certification
- A.S. or B.S. in Electronic or Mechanical Technologies
- Experience with M. C. Miller Products (Passives, Data Loggers, and/or Voltmeters)
- Experience with M. C. Miller Data Management Software (ProActive, ProActive Pro, ESD, and/or Dig)
- Experience with the use, maintenance and precautions for reference cells
- GIS, GPS, and/or GNSS proficiency
Core Responsibilities
- Interface with customers directly and offer knowledgeable support regarding the cathodic protection industry, methodology, and training when required
- Recommend troubleshooting tips, problem solving, and help customers identify issues
- Display expertise utilizing M. C. Miller’s cathodic protection hardware and software
- Test M. C. Miller’s hardware and software technologies and monitoring solutions designed for the cathodic protection industry
- Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and M. C. Miller policies and procedures
- Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor or management
- Flexible and willing to work overtime when necessary
Additional Responsibilities
- Produce customer documentation regarding use and application of M. C. Miller equipment and software
- Lead training sessions demonstrating M. C. Miller equipment and software to Customers, on-site and virtually
