Electronics Technician

Job Description

Salary: $18.00 - $23.00/hr, based on experience and qualifications
The M. C. Miller Co., Inc. is looking for an experienced Electronics Technician to join us in Sebastian, FL.
Full-Time position.
40 Hours per week.
Hours are Monday-Friday 07:00-15:30.
Occasional overtime may be required.

Summary

The Electronics Technician works under limited direction/supervision and is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying production of electronic or electromechanical products, parts, analog and/or digital instrumentation, and test equipment.
The Electronics Technician is expected to apply principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, and electronic testing.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of work experience in electronic repair, rework and/or calibration
  • 3 years of work experience with soldering surface mount or though-hole devices
  • 3 years of work experience troubleshooting electronic circuits

Personal projects may substitute for work experience

  • Comfortable with reading complex analog and digital schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Strong ability with MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Comfortable with product flow through a manufacturing or repair environment
  • Working knowledge of computer systems
  • Ability to learn new test software and equipment and to identify abnormal conditions in equipment and product
  • Ability to make coordinated hand and finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects
  • Ability to work in multiple software systems
  • Ability to communicate ideas in English so others will understand either verbally or in writing
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented in English either verbally or in writing
  • Must be able to legally work in the U.S.A.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A.S. or B.S. in Electronic or Mechanical Technologies
  • Knowledge of practical application of engineering electronics, science, and technology including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming
  • X-Ray Inspection experience
  • Environmental Testing experience
  • Revision Control experience
  • Electronics Design Automation Suite experience
  • VBA or PowerQuery experience

Core Responsibilities

  • Read wiring diagrams, and schematic drawings; Use manufacturing and engineering instructions for testing assembled electronic or mechanical units, applying knowledge of electronic or mechanical theory and components.
  • Create non-conformance reports including detailed description of testing performed, resulting failure and initial root cause analysis
  • Interpret and work in accordance with work orders, drawings and schematics, functional and test procedures, failure reports, manuals and all other applicable engineering and production documentation
  • Calibrate or otherwise adjust products by means such as component selection, potentiometer adjustment, digital potentiometer adjustment, and EEPROM programming; Make required mathematical calculations for voltage, resistance, current, impedance, and amplification
  • Repair and certify equipment for customer records compliance
  • Create calibration certificates with NIST-traceable equipment
  • Perform automated testing and performance testing using a variety of custom testing jigs and software to simulate in-service specifications, including but not limited to: vibe, burn in, thermal cycle and ICT
  • Perform manual testing involving setup, adjustment, operation and interpretation of results from standard and special purpose test equipment, such as DMMs, signal generators, power supplies, rectifiers, oscilloscopes, environmental chamber, and hi-pot
  • Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and M. C. Miller policy
  • Maintain logs and manuals to document testing and troubleshooting of products and equipment
  • Verify product not normally worked on, and products of greater complexity under limited supervision.
  • Troubleshoot production failures down to the component level
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management
  • Flexible and willing to work overtime when necessary

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support internal audits
  • Perform work under a microscope or soldering
  • Work with design & test engineering when there is a production problem
